Pictures from Williamsburg
January 20-22, 1999

This is a wide shot of an Episcopalian Church
still active since its founding in 1699.
The day began with some light fog.

 the church was beautiful inside
some of the pews are marked with the names of famous parishioners,
such as Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Patrick Henry
and others

the pulpit is raised above the congregation,
imagine having to give the sermon from so high!

The Bible is held by a beautiful angelic stand
the detail is quite remarkable
notice the graves in the floor - there were graves all throughout the isles

The Church yard is still active as a graveyard -
to enter or exit the Church, we had to pass through the gateway
to the graves.
Some of the graves were right outside the window of the deceased's pew.
